We have good friends in Germany – people who are passionate about peace and justice, who welcome us with open arms when we visit. So it’s beyond disheartening to know how many people think we should be distancing ourselves from our friends in the rest of Europe – and that that we in Yorkshire are now ‘represented’ by three UKIP MEPs. They talk about ‘closing the gates’, ‘getting our country back’. They champion fear and hatred. Well, they certainly don’t speak for us.
